Thanks for a great gig at Manchester! The support band were also very good, really melodic and perfect to set the mood. I was a bit concerned about the bar being so close to the stage at first with the sound of the tills being opened and closed constantly and was beginning to worry the entire gig might end up sounding like a strange hybrid of Llamas songs mixed with the tills from Pink Floyd's 'Money'! The bar tenders were also throwing the empty bottles in the bin making a racket which pissed me off during the support act so I had words with the management to ensure this wouldn't happen during the Llamas set and gladly it didn't. I felt a little sad when 'Rotary Hop' was played as I remembered the sad recent passing of the great Don Van Vliet whom this song was written about (perhaps you could dedicate this song to Don on the final leg of the tour Sean?). After the gig I got a copy of Apricots, the tour cd, a poster and the new album! (Which I am still saving for my travels this summer!) Was a really good atmosphere and a great crowd and was nice to meet Sean after the gig and get an autograph! All the best for the rest of the tour lads and I hope you can get to tour wider at some point in the future to appease our Llama friends around the world! Martin :¬)

p.s. Does anybody know the name of one of the songs played before the support act... something about 'House of Cards'? Sounded a bit like the singer from the Sundays? mmm...

 Yes folks

I can concur with all of the comments on the Manchester gig.An interesting venue, all seated more or less. The sound was okay. The Preston Posse were out.Football talk abounded....sorry Sean's team got beat by Villa!Apparently  Sean was with Kevin Blackwell the former Leeds manager ,at some time in the past(at scholl or college? I forgot)

I met a guy called Tony,I think, from Liverpool who spoke highly of Shack and of a french group called Orwell. Thanks to The Llamas for a tight and neat gig.Highlights......Rotary Hop , Calloway, and the finale of Checking In Checking Out.Apparently a visit to the States could be hard with about £7000 in visa charges !Sean talked of a film soundtrack with Catherine Deneuve  (Belle du Jour)

All the musicians were great."Fly Baby Fly" should be backed with  "Checking In and Checking" out as a single.Give it to British Airways for an advert to sponsor your US Tour was my only suggestion here.

Despite the rain and fog over the pennines the 110 miles round trip was worth it.Regards to the kind gent from Buxton Derbyshire who helped me in the queue for the poster and single.

One interesting point ...there was a person wearing headphones and listening to the gig just in front of me.I assumed one could obtain these at this venue and listen to a direct sound feed....a brilliant idea...

Here's to the next time ...thanks very much to the High Llamas

A big thank you to Sean and the band. It was certainly a pleasant way to spend a rainy sunday evening. I must also say that once again Sean's humility and affable nature shone through. The venue was intimate and suited the mood perfectly , even though the bottled beer was a bit on the pricey side !!.

Great to see you again, I shall not leave it so long (Arnolds) next time.

Hello hejafish....in response to your enquiry the song you are wondering about is called Sun Is King by the wonderful american singer/songwriter LAURA VEIRS...it's taken from her last album JULY FLAME(2010).Laura has made seven studio albums,my favourite of which is CARBON GLACIER(2004) but i recommend all the albums, actually!!! Wonder if Sean is a fan of Laura's too?

Listening to it now on youtube :¬)

Yes, I have Carbon Glacier.. and the one wth the Sea Serphant on the cover.. mm.. seems my ears aren't attuned to Laura's voice!
