Sorry for the non activity .We have been pursuing other projects for most of the year . sean has delivered a soundtrack with Tim Gane for Marc Fitoussi'e new movie and collaborated with Rio's Domenico Lancellotti on a new record .Rob has been touring with Turin Brakes and Dom durated a Retrospective of Conlon Nancarrow's work at Londons South Bank.
We will play a few shows before the end of 2012.Keep checking.

The High Llamas visit Japan in September to play four shows over 2 nights in Tokyo and Osaka.There will be two shows a day (one at 7pm and one at 9pm) at the Billboard Live clubs in Tokyo on 27th September and Osaka on 29th September.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the High Llamas/Jonathan Coe collaboration Say Hi To The Rivers and The Mountains is on sale .
The show is essentially a High Llamas show featuring Llamas tunes as far back as you can go married to a narrative written and extracted from the songs by the great Joathan Coe.
The High Llamas perform with a string section and are strangely more orchestrated than usual.
Its a rare chance to see the band in this format.
The shows kick off in Maidenhead at the wonderful Norden Farm Arts Centre on May 30th.
We then head to Stockton on Tees on June 10 and Kendal on June 11th.

I know this is the High Llamas site and I normally would not do this, but I have been asked why I am not promoting this release. Jon Fell and Sean from The High Llamas started life in the early 80's in a band called Microdisney. It was formed by Cathal Coughlan and Sean in Cork in 1980. We had small success in Ireland and soon moved to the big London Stage in 1983 where Jon Fell and Tom Fenner joined and we raced around the UK entertaining students, goths, jazzers, and who or whatever came our way untill 1988. I am not going to tell you why or how we made the 6 LP's we did for Rough Trade Records and Virgin, or indeed what we were supposed to say musically. We made a small dent in the lives of a number of people around the world and I can honestly say I love most of the music we made back then. Sanctuary are reissueing an Anthology of Microdisney spanning their career. It's called From Daunt Square to Elsewhere: Anthology from 1982 -1988. It's out today Oct 8th 2007.

I really want to make this up and do some Belgian and French dates . Sean and Tim from Sterealab have collaborated to write a film score for Marc Fitoussi's La Vie D'Artiste .The soundtrack is out in September on Beggars in the USA and the world. The music is veryFrench and Very 1968 prhaps reflecting Lai aswell as some German music . The film is lovely . Marc Fitoussi wrote the screenplay and it has a late 60's auteur feel as I think all his work has .Its shot in the present and follows 3 characters through a short period of turbulence in their lives . The film is also out in September.I am really happy with the music and hope to be doing more work like this again with Tim .Please check it out . I loved wprking with Tim on this and we wrote the music ina short period which is a change for me .

Barcalona Show postponed

Unfortunately the High Llamas Barcalona Show that was to take place on May 12 is now postponed . The promoter felt unsure about the final arrangements and thinks it would work better later in the year, when their promotions are on a more permanent basis. Really sorry about theis . We want to play as much as we can in Europe and the US . These changes are beyond our control.

Jason MacIsaac of The Heavy Blinkers wrote in to report that Sean has made contributions to the forthcoming Blinkers double album Health. Specifically, he plays classical guitar on “mes craintes oubliees” and sings the bridge on the song “I should be sleeping.” There are some pictures of Sean and Rob with the Blinkers on this blog.

Just a note from Sean to say that the band are on their way to Paris and look forward to getting back to playing again . I hope this is the first of many anf that it extends throughout Europe and to the USA and Japan . We may even get to play outside London in the UK!!!!!!!!!!!! Its been 10 years since the band did any UK touring and not through any fault of our own.Many thanks to the chaps who are logging in on the Eventful site .
